Margaret L. Hilgendorf, age 93 of Paxton, passed away at Accolade Healthcare of Paxton on Pells at 1:35 a.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 24, 2025, at the Loda United Methodist Church, 200 S. Locust Street, Loda with Rev. Timothy Delaney officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Loda.
Visitation will be Friday, January 24, one hour before the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is handling arrangements.
Margaret was born December 4, 1931, in rural Potomac, the daughter of Lorie and Blenda Larkin. She married Roy Hilgendorf on May 29, 1949, in Rankin. They had five children.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancy (Harold) Ecker of Loda, three sons, Richard (Debra) Hilgendorf of Leroy, Michael (Marianne) Hilgendorf of Pontiac, Donald (Jerilyn) Hilgendorf of Gibson City; 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren and step grandchildren; and son-in-law, Charles Cox of Rantoul and brother Gary Larkin of Champaign.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roy Hilgendorf, brothers Marvin Larkin of Rankin and Eldon Larkin of Danville, sister Joan Brewer from Missouri and daughter Linda Cox and grandson Trent Martin.
Margaret graduated from Rankin High School. She retired from Collegiate Cap & Gown in 1994 and from Addus Healthcare in 2011.
She was a member of the Loda United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women and the Loda American Legion Auxiliary Post 503 and 8 & 40. She and her husband, Roy, were king and queen of the Loda Good Ole Days and Loda Truck & Tractor Pull for a number of years.
Her true enjoyment in life was her husband and very large family. She enjoyed all family events, camping, crocheting and audio books.
Memorials may be made to the Loda United Methodist Church or an organization of the donor's choice. Condolences and memories can be shared with the family at www.baierfuneralservices.com.
