Sarah Marjorie "Marge" Simms, 88, of Paxton passed away at 8:42 p.m. Sunday, February 12, 2023 at Heritage Health, Hoopeston.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 16, 2023 at First Lutheran Church, 301 S College St., Paxton with Rev. Debra Domeier officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cemetery, Paxton.

Visitation will be 12:00 -1:00 p.m. Thursday at the church. Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is handling arrangements.

Marge was born May 24, 1934 in Madisonville, Kentucky the daughter of Arthur and Mable Hall Forbes. She married Thomas Simms June 30, 1956 at the Gibson Bible Church, Gibson City. He preceded her in death in June 1999.

She is survived by one brother, Ray (Marcia) Forbes of Princeton, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas; two brothers, Sonny and Danny Forbes and one sister, Shirley Forbes.

Marge graduated from Gibson City High School in 1954. She worked for General Telephone for eight years. Marge was a cook at Illinois Knights Templar Home, Paxton for 42 years and received many awards and acknowledgements.

She was an active member of First Lutheran Church, Paxton where she was a greeter and a member of FLCW and the "Smokin' Fingers" quilting group. Marge enjoyed reading and watching TV.
