Marie Ileen Hoveln, 89, of Rantoul passed away Monday, March 10, 2025 at her home.

Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Gifford with Pastor Gary Maxwell officiating. Burial will follow in Kopmann Cemetery, Royal. Baier Family Funeral Services, Flatville is assisting the family with arrangements.

Visitation will be 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Marie was born January 28, 1936 in Gifford the daughter of Mike and Elfrieda Hesterberg Schluter. She married Alvin Hoveln September 19, 1954 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Gifford. He preceded her in death November 22, 2010.

She is survived by two sons, Ron (Sarah) Hoveln of Syracuse, New York, David (Karla) Hoveln of Clayton, Delaware; daughter-in-law, Marie Hoveln of San Diego, California; five grandchildren, Julie (Alex Rockdashil) Hoveln, Jason (Stacey) Hoveln, Victoria (Matt) Almond, Joshua (Brittany) Hoveln, Colin (Kelsey) Hoveln; four great grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn (Larry) Miller; and two brothers, Alvin (Evelyn) Schluter and Marvin Schluter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; son, Steve Hoveln; brother, Lawrence Schluter and half-brother, Henry Schluter.

Marie graduated from Rantoul Township High School in 1954. She was an administrative assistant in Civil Services at Chanute Air Force Base, Rantoul for many years before retirement. Marie was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Gifford. She loved to bake pies for others.
