Obituary

Marjory Ann Irwin, 94, of Rantoul, formerly of Decatur, Alabama passed away at 9:18 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Country Health Care, Gifford.

A private graveside service will be held at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, Nashville, TN. Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is assisting the family with arrangements.

Marjory was born May 11, 1931 in Doncaster, England the daughter Phyllis Brown. She married William Howard Irwin November 11, 1952 at the First United Methodist Church, Nashville, TN. He preceded her in death March 23, 2005.

She is survived by a daughter, Debra (Kevin) Jeffers of Rantoul; two granddaughters, Sherry Jeffers of Rantoul, Erica Jeffers of Chicago; and a great grandson, Aidan Pine.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William H. Irwin; and son, David R. Irwin.

Marjory went to technical college for secretarial work in England. After her move to the United States, she earned a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing from Athens State College in Athens, Alabama. She worked as a nurse for 28 years at Decatur General Hospital, Decatur, AL.

Marjory was a member of the British Wives Club and a former member of The Order of the Eastern Star.

Marjory was an excellent seamstress, sewing everything from clothing to curtains. She enjoyed cake decorating and reading when she had the time, especially mystery novels. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.
