Marla Kay Osterbur, 72 of Rantoul, died at 1:42 a.m. Friday, November 15, 2024, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Beckman Cemetery, Rantoul with Rev. Scott Smith officiating. Baier Family Funeral Services, Flatville is handling arrangements.

Marla was born March 24, 1952, in Champaign the daughter of Theodore and Martha Gerdes Osterbur.

She is survived by two sisters, Eunice (Larry) Frerichs of Penfield and Shirley (Marvin) Rademacher of Rantoul and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and a great-great nephew.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Marla grew up in Flatville and graduated from Rantoul Twp High School in 1970.  She retired from the University of Illinois.  She was a life-long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Flatville where she had been baptized and confirmed.

She enjoyed camping, spending time sitting outdoors and her dog, Bella.  Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at Carle Hospital for the outstanding care they gave Marla in her final days and also thank the staff at Brookstone for their great care.
