Marless M. Swan, 85 of Paxton, died at 9:37 p.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2026, at American Lutheran Church, 500 Church Drive, Rantoul with Rev. Aaron Dawson officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Glen Cemetery, Paxton.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, August 14, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E. Pells Street, Paxton and one hour before the funeral service on Saturday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church.

Marless was born February 26, 1941, in Urbana the daughter of Herman F. and Antke M. Huls Peters. She married Daryl D. Swan March 1, 1959, at the American Lutheran Church, Rantoul. He preceded her in death November 24, 2014.

She is survived by a son, Dean (Jody) Swan of Paxton, a daughter, Malinda “Mindy” (Pat) Lisak of Otsego, MI; 4 grandchildren, Breann (Miguel) Figueroa, Jacob (Nicole) Lisak, Alyssa (Joe) Camp, Nathan (Carley) Lisak; 3 step grandchildren, Lindsay (Dustin) Christensen, Jacob (Heidi) Taylor, Ryan (Ashley) Gream; 12 great grandchildren; 9 step great grandchildren; a sister, Melvina Heap; lots of extended family members and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter-in-law, Toni Swan; step grandson, Brad Swan; brother, Mervin Peters and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law.

Marless worked for Ludlow Co-op Elevator, Paxton for a number of years and helped her husband in their business, Swan Construction Co.

Marless was a very active member of the American Lutheran Church, Rantoul where she attended Bible Study groups, assisted with Bible School, funeral lunches and Sunday School projects. She was a former Brownie Troop leader, and room mother. Marless was a longtime member of the Home Extension Association. She was never at a loss for words and enjoyed spending time and drinking coffee with friends. Marless always found time to visit family and friends who were homebound or in nursing homes. She also enjoyed dominoes, bunco, going to plays and music concerts. Marless loved traveling abroad and visiting all 50 states. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Her faith helped her through some tough times. She loved God first and family second. Marless lived her life by Proverbs 3: 5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
