Mary Ann Miller, 95, of Savoy, formerly of Paxton and Minier, passed away on July 30, 2023.

She was born on August 30, 1927 in Chicago, the daughter of Everett and Blanch Gastineau. She married her high school sweetheart, John P. Miller, in 1947 in Peoria, IL. He preceded her in death after 71 years of marriage in 2017.

She is survived by her four daughters, Linda Alley of Metamora, IL; Kathleen Cearlock (William) of Ogden, IL; Susie Overstreet of Champaign, IL; and DeeDee Cook (David) of Mahomet, IL ; five grandsons, Cory Overstreet (Giselle)of Chicago, IL; Clayton Overstreet (Krista) of Mahomet, IL; Craig Overstreet and Ross Cearlock (Lana) of Champaign, IL and one step-granddaughter, Adrienne Hirsch (Dan) of Tinley Park, IL; five great-grandchildren, Christian, Gabrielle, Frances Overstreet of Chicago, IL; Kaitlyn and Garrett Overstreet of Mahomet and Grant Hirsch of Tinley Park, IL. and three nieces; Cynthia Baldwin (Gary); Peggy and Patty Best.

In addition to her husband, Mary Ann was preceded in death by a grandson (William Laskey) and two sons-in-law (Tom Laskey and Randy Alley) and a brother and sister-in-law (Kenny and Eleonor Best).

John and Mary Ann moved their family from the Peoria area to Paxton, IL in 1958 where they raised their four daughters. Mary Ann retired from Chanute Airforce Base after serving ten years as the Base Visual Merchandiser.

Mary Ann was a Lifetime PTA member, Girl Scout Leader and a Worthy Matron and Grand Representative of Illinois in Eastern Star. Her artistic talents won her blue ribbons in the Town and Country Art shows and the admiration of her family and friends. She was an excellent seamstress making her own wedding dress and many dresses for her four daughters as they grew up. She also was known for her delicious pies and cakes except for the time she forgot to put the sugar in a pie, something her sons in law never let her forget! Mary Ann was a loyal Chicago Cubs fan and looked forward to singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the seventh inning stretch. She loved spending time with children (especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren) and was known for her infectious laugh which will be missed by all.

Graveside services will be held at Oakview Cemetery, Armington, on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is handling arrangements.
