Mary "Edith" Russell, 98 of Rantoul, died at 8:08 a.m. Sunday, April 12, 2026, at her home.

Edith was born on July 31, 1927, in beautiful Pulaski County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Walter and Berthetta Roy Davis.

She was married to Willard Russell for almost 65 years.  He preceded her in death in December 2011.

Edith was the loving mother of three children:  Darlene (Bob) Surber, Marlene (Wayne) Blom, and Danny (Teresa) Russell.  She was also blessed with four grandchildren, Brent (Rachel) Blom, Brandon Blom, Haley Russell and Hope (Matthew) Hurd and five great grandchildren, Liam Blom, Nolan Blom, Emsley Blom, Will Blom and Addilee Blom.  She is also survived by her sister, Vy Wilson as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters and her beloved husband.

She was a loving mom, grandma and great grandma.  She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in Rantoul.  She loved gardening, flowers and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2026, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E. Pells Street, Paxton with Pastor Steven Bonk officiating.  Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Rantoul.

Visitation will be one hour before the service from 2:00-3:00 p.m. also at the funeral home.
