Neppie Eula Caldwell, 100, of Loda passed away at 4:20 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Accolade Healthcare of Paxton on Pells.

Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at Macedonia Baptist Church, 808 N Fourth St, Champaign with Pastor D. L. Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Champaign. Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is assisting the family with arrangements.

Visitation will be 11:00-12:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church Wednesday.

Neppie was born December 3, 1922 in Champaign the daughter of James and Minnie Hampton Caldwell. She is preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and four sisters.

She leaves behind nieces, Nancy Jo Carter of Urbana, Doris Goston of Chicago; nephews, Cecil Goston of Chicago, Ricky Caldwell and Dennis Caldwell of Cairo, Illinois and many cousins and friends.

She attended Champaign schools and moved to Gary, Indiana early in life. Neppie moved to Loda in the 1960s. She attended Cosmetology school and was a beautician. Neppie married Ned Ezell who preceded her in death. She later married Bennie Malrey who also preceded her in death.

She was a church member and pianist at an early age. She played for many churches and choirs including the Friendship Baptist Church in Loda. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, Champaign. Neppie loved the Lord and her church friends and family. Although she never had children of her own, so many children loved her. She loved to cook for family and friends. Neppie wanted you to be happy and enjoy life to the fullest.
