Obituary

Norma Arlene Hofer, 90 of Buckley, passed away at 3:27 a.m. Monday, April 22, 2024, at Country Health Care, Gifford.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 206 E. Main Street, Buckley with Rev. J. Kevin Wyckoff officiating. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Buckley. Baier Family Funeral Services, Buckley is assisting the family with arrangements.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Norma was born April 18, 1934, in Buckley the daughter of Walter and Lena Kaufmann Weber. She married Duane E. Hofer, November 28, 1953, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Buckley. He preceded her in death January 11, 2017.

She is survived by two daughters, Cindy Woods of Cincinnati, Ohio, Kari (Alan) Dudley of Lake Iroquois, Loda; one son, Kendall (Cherrie) Hofer of Buckley; nine grandchildren, Brandi (Brannon) Player, Shawn and Kelsey Woods, Kali (Matt) Denault, Kami Winnicki, Kandace (Jason) Bleich, Payton, Braydon and Carson Dudley; seven great grandchildren, Kaidyn and Kason Sledge, Brextyn and Hayes Player, Kyler and Zoey Woods, Madelyn Denault; and one brother, Wayne Weber of Buckley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Clarence Weber, three sisters, Edna Ecker, Gladys Weppler, and Mildred Schuldt, and a son-in-law, Larry Woods.

Norma graduated from Buckley High School in 1952. She retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation. She also sold Sarah Coventry jewelry for 13 years.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the church choir, and an active volunteer for the church and school. Norma enjoyed playing cards, going on trips, gardening, canning, and camping at Lake Shafer. Back in the day, the "Weber girls" were known for their softball talent. She also enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and Illini games. Her greatest joys were Sunday dinners after church with her family and spending every minute she could with her grandchildren.
