Obituary

Patricia "Pat" Louise Hamby, 85 of Huntersville, North Carolina, formerly of Bayles Lake, Loda, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center, Huntersville, NC.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at First Lutheran Church, Paxton with Rev. Debra Domeier officiating.  Burial will follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Loda.

Visitation will be one hour before the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church.  Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is handling arrangements.

Pat was born September 6, 1938, in St. Paul, Minnesota, the daughter of Charles B. and Margaret A. Wendt McLain.  She married Warren R. Hamby, November 4, 1961, in Colorado Springs, CO.  He survives.

Along with her husband, Warren, she is survived by a son, William (Jenny) Hamby of Plainfield; two daughters, Annette (Glen) Morrow of Huntersville, NC, Michelle (Ken) Hogan of Grafton, Wisconsin; nine grandchildren Gillian (Michael) Jonathas, Kyle (Beatriz) Morrow, Hannah (Collin) Stephens, Lindsy (Nathan) Zeter, Sarah Evinic, Margaret Hamby, Ryan Hamby, Joshua (Danielle) Hogan, Jacob Hogan and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and great grandson, Maximus.

Pat grew up in St. Paul Park, Minnesota and graduated from high school in 1956.  She attended the University of Minnesota.  Pat retired as registrar at Plainfield High School.  After she and her husband built their home and moved to Bayles Lake in 1997, she became the secretary of the Loda United Methodist Church for a number of years.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Paxton, and Community in Christ Lutheran Church of Huntersville.  Pat was a former Loda Library Board Trustee.  She enjoyed playing bridge and needlework, especially crocheting.
