Paul Vernon Ogle, 92, of Rantoul passed peacefully at Reflections Memory Care in Rantoul on May 24, 2025.

Mr. Ogle was born June 27, 1932 in Paxton a son of William and Edna Ogle.

Survivors include nieces, Amy (Chris) Ramp of Indianapolis, Cindy (Doug) Harris of Mooresville, IN, Kara (Mike) Long of Pendleton, IN; nephews, Kenneth Ogle of Holland, MI, Jeff Ogle of Kankakee; cousins, Sandra Ogle and Sandy Ogle Johnson of Logan, OH. He also leaves behind many neighbors and dear friends including Earl Hess of Rantoul and Clark and Cathy Kent of Columbus, OH.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters.

Paul's interests included Ultralight aircraft, USS Roanoke reunions, hiking and golf. He made many trips to the EAA Airventure Oshkosh shows. Paul last attended a reunion with his shipmates numbering but a dozen or so survivors six years ago. Paul loved hiking the Appalachian Trail and Hocking County Ohio parks. His golfing feats included two Holes in One in his late 80's.

Mr. Ogle was a Korean War Era Navy Veteran serving on the USS Roanoke. Upon exiting the Navy, he worked 40 years for the U.S. Air Force, 1963 Communications Squadron at Chanute AFB, retiring as Chief of Plans and Programs prior to the base closure in 1993.

Many thanks to the Holly Brook/Reflections Memory Care Facility in Rantoul and to Carle Hospice workers who made Paul's final days peaceful.

Arrangements were handled by Baier Family Funeral Service, Paxton. A private burial service will be held later in June.
