Richard Dean "Rick" Brown, 70, of Rantoul, formerly of Loda passed away at 10:46 a.m. Monday, September 16, 2024 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

A service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Loda. Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is assisting the family with arrangements.

Rick was born June 10, 1954 at Chanute Air Force Base, Rantoul, Illinois the son of Elmer and Verneta Walker Brown.

He is survived by two brothers, Darwin (Sue) Brown of Marinette, Wisconsin, Roy Havener of Paxton; niece, Brenda (Tim) Grice of Buckley and their children; and nephew, Jeff (April) Coe of rural Loda and their children.

Rick graduated from Paxton High School in 1971. He attended Parkland College, Champaign where he worked as a custodian for many years.

Rick enjoyed hang gliding and motorcycle riding. He was the son and grandson of Mohawks.

Rick was a good brother who thought of others before himself. He was a kind and quiet person who never complained. He will be missed by his family but they know things will get even better for him.
