Robert Eugene "Bob" Irving, 87, of rural Loda passed away at 8:40 p.m. Sunday, June 14, 2026 at Accolade Healthcare of Paxton on Pells.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is assisting the family with arrangements.

Bob was born December 23, 1938 in Loda, Illinois the son of Delmar and Eva Fowler Irving. He married Janet Forte in August of 1973.

He is survived by a son Randall (Betsy Hankes) Irving of Paxton, ex-wife Janet Bailey of Savoy, a niece Vickie (LeRoy) Nelson of Fisher and several other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Betty Dow, Barbara Irving and a brother Rick Irving.

Bob spent his childhood in rural Loda and graduated from Roberts-Thawville High School in 1957. In high school he played on the basketball team and showed cattle with the FFA.

Bob worked as a mechanic at University Ford in Champaign for a couple years before taking over the family farm and working for Hicks Gas in Roberts.  He was a tractor enthusiast and was a member of the Loda Truck & Tractor Pull Association. Bob enjoyed attending the I&I Historic Farm Days in Penfield, any farm progress shows and the Illinois State Fair every year.
