Robert L. "Robb" Mennenga, 36, of Savoy died at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 26, 2017 at his home after a long battle with a heroin addiction.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2017, at the Faith United Methodist Church Worship and Life Center, 1719 S. Prospect Avenue, Champaign with Pastor Sheryl Palmer officiating. Baier Family Funeral Services, Flatville is handling arrangements.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, June 30, at the Faith United Methodist Church Worship and Life Center followed by inurnment in Faith United Methodist Church Columbarium.
Robb was born December 23, 1980; the son of Lowell E. and Ellen Ebert Mennenga.
He is survived by his parents of Savoy; one brother, Ed (Lindsay) Mennenga of Lincoln, Nebraska; a niece, Sloane Mennenga; an uncle, Fred Ebert of Champaign; two great aunts, Gebka Sage of Oakwood, Nancy Davis of Dallas, Texas; and his cousins, Susan (Tony) Burgstrom, Jon Ebert, Abby Chavarria, Danielle Burgstrom, Breanna Burgstrom, all of Champaign.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, an uncle, Lester Mennenga and an aunt, Irma Ebert.
Robb graduated from Champaign Central High School in 1999, Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin in 2005 and Marquette University Law School, Milwaukee, in 2009. He was a law clerk and bankruptcy attorney in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for six years.
He enjoyed Star Wars and Sci-Fi. His artistic talents were evident in his building and painting of dioramas. Robb was a voracious reader. He was always willing to help others and was an empathic and caring young man and a very loving son.
