Obituary

Robert Lee "Bob" Rule, 93, of Paxton passed away at 5:50 p.m. Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at his home.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 19, 2021 at Lyman Twp Cemetery, Roberts. Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is assisting the family with arrangements.

Robert was born May 16, 1928 in Ford County, Wall Township the son of Edgar C. and Avis Walkup Rule. He married Elaine F. Whitcomb on January 22, 1950 at the Methodist Parsonage, Paxton. She preceded him in death May 18, 1996.

He is survived by one son, David L. (Cheryl) Rule of Venice, Florida; three grandchildren, Kelly (Max) Aracil of Hanover, Pennsylvania, Lindsay Rule of Orlando, Florida, Bryan (Chelsea) Rule of Richmond, Virginia; and three great grandchildren Hailey Aracil, Alex Aracil, Elizabeth Aracil; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dean Rule and sister Mary Nuss.

Bob spent his childhood in Roberts and graduated from Roberts High School in 1946. After high school he farmed with his father outside of Roberts. In 1955 Bob moved to Paxton where he worked with Zerkal Plumbing and Heating before taking a job on Chanute Air Force Base in Heating Equipment Repair from 1956-1989. Bob was a founding member of Living Word Church, Roberts where he was very active in the church. He later attended Full Gospel Christian Fellowship, Paxton.

Bob built the house he lived in, in 1959. He was an avid woodworker and over the years made several dollhouses for grandchildren and great grandchildren. Most recently Bob just completed his last dollhouse for a close friend.

He enjoyed riding motorcycles and rode them until the late 1980s. Bob loved music and played the guitar, banjo, organ and in the last two years, had taken up the ukulele.

The family would like to thank Carle Hospice for their loving care. Bob was an advocate for hospice and helped to make a video to educate others on the benefits of hospice.
