Roger Dale Hazelwood, 62, of Rantoul, formerly of Iowa Falls and Eldora, IA, passed away on October 9, peacefully in his home.
Roger was born January 21, 1956 in Eldora, Iowa the son of Robert W. and Elnora Boofer Hazelwood. He married Leah Mullane on September 5, 1980 at Owasa Methodist Church, Owasa, Iowa.
Roger graduated from Iowa Falls High School and Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, IA with degrees in masonry and carpentry. He proudly wore a Green Beret in the United States Army from 1976 - 1979 as a power generator and wheel mechanic. Roger was a stone and brick mason and was a member of the BAC Local #8 Bricklayers Union, Champaign, IL. He was a faithful member of Iowa Falls Evangelical Free church and Trinity Church in Watseka, IL.
Roger had a love for NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt. He was an avid collector of NASCAR memorabilia and loved working and attending races. He enjoyed time spent working and creating his own masonry and stone projects. Most of all he loved spending time with family.
Roger is survived by his wife, Leah, four children, Andy (Heather) Hazelwood of Paxton, Illinois; Vanessa (Octavio) Martinez of Rantoul, Illinois; Valerie (Cory) Jones of Nevada, Iowa; Nathan (Amy Fligiel) Hazelwood of New Jersey; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Hazelwood of Ormond Beach, Florida; 10 grandchildren, Chandlar (Glenn) Marshall, Austin Hazelwood, Mekenlie Jones, Caden Jones, Jarrett Hazelwood, Rylen Martinez, Mason Hazelwood, Brooks Hazelwood, Adelaide Hazelwood, Evangeline Hazelwood, two great grandchildren, Brayden Duitsman, Brinley Marshall; two sisters, Marylou Gangstad of Eagle Grove, Iowa, Sue (Jerry) Brown of Iowa Falls, Iowa; and two brothers, Richard Hazelwood of Eldora, Iowa, Ronald (Denise) Hazelwood of Eldora, Iowa.
A memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Trinity Church, 1658 W Walnut, Watseka, Illinois with Pastor Bart Koester officiating.
