Roger D. Marshall, 80 of Paxton, died at 3:56 a.m. Thursday, August 24, 2023, at Accolade Healthcare of Paxton on Pells.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E. Pells Street, Paxton with Pastor Pat Allin officiating.  Burial will follow in Glen Cemetery, Paxton.

Visitation will be one hour before the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Roger was born November 18, 1942, in Paxton the son of Orville W. and Viva A. Vaught Marshall.  He was a caregiver for his sister, Janice, for 25 years.

Roger graduated from Paxton High School in 1960, and attended Illinois Commercial College in Champaign.  He graduated from there in March 1962 and worked in Danville at the First National Bank for 1 ½ years.  He began working at Chanute AFB, Rantoul in 1963.  He worked there for almost 30 years, retiring before the base closure. While working at Chanute, he attended Parkland College at night and received an Associate's Degree.

Roger was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church rural Rankin and was the pianist there for many years.

He is survived by three nieces, Kristen (Grant) Pfister, Dawn (Dave Thomas) Marshall and Carrie (Greg) Halm; one great niece, Kayla Sliwka; seven great nephews, Andrew and Stephen Bryant, Garrett and Nathan Halm, Kurtis and Kendall Sliwka and Maclain Pfister.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Don, his sister-in-law Karen and one sister, Janice.
