Roger L. Ponton, Sr., 78, of Fisher, formerly of Dewey, died at 3:05 p.m. November 19, 2018 surrounded by his family at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Celebration of life will be an open house from 2 p.m.- 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018, at the Fisher AMVETS Post 52, 301 E. Division, Fisher. Burial will be at a later date. Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is in charge of arrangements.

Roger was born May. 2, 1940 in L'Erable the son of Albert I. and Pricilla Landry Ponton. He married Judy Sample on May. 6, 1961 in Kankakee. She survives.

Along with his wife, Judy he is survived by four children, Roger (Michele) Ponton, Jr., Brenda (Daniel) Spaulding, Cheryl (Michael) Riley, Richard (Johnnie Cochran) Ponton all of Fisher; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; one brother, Dale (Mary) Essington of Clifton, IL; and one sister, Caroline (Ronald) Stutz of Littleton, Colorado.

He was preceded in death by a son, Randy Lee Ponton and his parents.

Roger was honorably discharged from the United States Army. He worked for ECC out of Paxton, Alloy Casting, then later retiring from Rantoul products.

After retirement Roger enjoyed camping, fishing, country cruising, and spending time with his family.
