Roy O. Worthington, Jr., 85 of Rantoul, passed away at 4:50 a.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at Heartland Healthcare Center, Paxton.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is handling arrangements.
Roy was born March 4, 1933, in Alvin the son of Roy O. and Ivadell D. Joyal Worthington. He married Maureen Marrison October 29, 1955 in Norwich, England.
He is survived by seven children, Charlyene (Gary) Hein of Loda, Koleen (Jeffrey) Roseman of Rantoul, Cheryleen (Doug) Sanderson of Paxton, R. Tony (Patricia) Worthington of Rantoul, Joleen (Larry) Collins of Thomasboro, Lisa (John) Kapper of North Port, Florida, William (Tommey) Griffith of Alabama; 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and a sister, Joyce Peers of Wellington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter and one brother.
Roy graduated from Danville High School in 1951 and from Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor's Degree in History. He served in the United States Air Force 1951-1972 and retired as a Tech Sgt. He then worked Civil Service as an instrument instructor. After his retirement, he worked for Rogers Chevrolet, Rantoul for a number of years.
He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan; enjoyed karaoke and singing favorite songs from Frank Sinatra. He also liked to golf and read and was a great history teller.
