Ruthie Mae Monroe, 95, of Rantoul, formerly of Loda passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2022 in Anniston, Alabama.

A memorial service will be at 12:00 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2023 at Baier Family Funeral Service, 406 E Pells, Paxton. Burial will follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Loda.

Visitation will be 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Friday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Ruthie was born January 9, 1927 in Corinth, Mississippi the daughter of James and Betsy Ruth Allen Monroe.

She is survived by her children, Peggy Monroe of Loda, Randolph Monroe of Urbana, Frances (Edward) Hill of Dale City, VA, Tony (Terkeler) Johnson of Anniston, AL, Terry (Janice) Johnson of Anniston, AL, Marilyn (Martin) Gant of Atlanta, GA, Darren Monroe of Centralia, Beverly (Ebony) Shackelford of Champaign; 18 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and brother, James (Marie) Monroe of Gary, IN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Betsy Ruth Allen Monroe, one son, one grandson, twin great grandchildren, one brother and three sisters.

Ruthie spent her childhood in Corinth, Mississippi. She and her family later moved to Gary, Indiana before moving to Loda. She worked for Loda Poultry for over 20 years before retiring and moving to Rantoul.

Ruthie loved watching Preacher Jimmy Swaggart and wrestling on tv. She enjoyed fishing and cooking. Ruthie was an avid collector of anything to do with elephants.
