Sandra Kay Ackerman, 69 of Champaign, passed away at 3:21 a.m. Sunday, May 26, 2024, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at American Lutheran Church Chapel, 500 Church Drive, Rantoul with Rev. James T. Lehmann officiating. Burial will follow in Kopmann Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour before the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, in the Chapel. Baier Family Funeral Services, Flatville is handling arrangements.
Sandy was born July 19, 1954, in Madison, Indiana the daughter of George William "Buck" and Martha Jane Maddox Andrews. She married Arlen Ackerman September 14, 1992, in Arlington, Texas. He survives.
Along with her husband, Arlen, she is survived by one son, Donovan Trinkle of Danville; one granddaughter, Jessica Trinkle of Rantoul; two brothers, Bill (Debbie) Andrews of Madison, Indiana, Mark (Sharon) Fitzgerald of Decatur; two sisters, Susie (Frank) Weddle of Danville, Andrea (Brian) Rosnett of Hillsdale, Indiana; three sisters-in-law, Cheryl Johnson of Leesburg, FL, Denise Hannagan of St. Joseph, Becky Rosenbeck of Tampa, FL; her mother-in-law, Ilene Ackerman of Urbana and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Teri Nelson, Cheri Stevenson; brother, Joe Fitzgerald; sister-in-law, Patricia Andrews, brother-in-law, Mike Nelson and father-in-law, William Ackerman.
Sandy was a member of the American Lutheran Church, Rantoul. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and shopping. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. Sandy loved animals and was a very kind-hearted lady.
