Sandra Smith, 78, of Paxton passed away at 2:07 p.m. Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Accolade Healthcare of Paxton on Pells.

Burial will be at a later date in Kentucky. Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is assisting the family with arrangements.

Sandra was born September 28, 1943 in Watseka the daughter of David J. and Nina Compton McConnell. She married Carl Metz. He preceded her in death. She later married John Smith. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by a sister, Pat Allen of Loda; multiple nephews and nieces and multiple great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, David D. McConnell and William McConnell and two sisters, Judy Lenington and June Moore.

Sandra spent her childhood in Iroquois County and graduated from Watseka High School. She lived for many years in Scottsville, Kentucky before moving to Paxton.
