Obituary

Shirley Keyes Anderson, 99 of Rantoul, passed away in the early morning hours of September 30, 2026.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, October 16, 2026, at the First United Methodist Church of Rantoul, 200 S. Century Blvd., Rantoul with Rev. Steve Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Rantoul.

Visitation will be two hours before the funeral service on Friday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. also at the church. Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is handling services.

Mrs. Anderson was born March 28, 1927, in Ashland, Wisconsin, the daughter of Fred and Rachel Blaser. She married Warren Keyes February 29, 1949, in Mason, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death in 1971. In 1980 she married Richard Anderson of Paxton. He preceded her in death March 9, 2013.

Shirley is survived by her children, Jay (Tammi) Keyes of California, Jeff Keyes of Rantoul, Nancy (Dean) Roessler of Rantoul and Mark Keyes of Rantoul; Richard’s children, Mariellen Anderson, James Anderson and Mark (Pat) Anderson. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Elaine; brother, Fredrick and one grandson.

Shirley graduated from Ashland High School in Ashland, WI and St. Eliabeth’s Nursing School at Loyola University in 1948. She worked for Dr. Schaede and Dr. Read at Rantoul Clinic for eight years then for Carle Clinic until 1984 when she retired. After retirement, she enjoyed lots of traveling.

Her God and her family were her greatest love, but she also enjoyed her many friends, gardening and the Cubs ball games. Shirley was a 55-year member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.
