Shirley Temple Coates, 85 of Paxton, died at 4:20 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2022, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E. Pells Street, Paxton with Rev. Priscilla Geerdes officiating.  Burial will follow in Glen Cemetery, Paxton.

Visitation will be from 10:00-12:00 a.m. Thursday, March 31, at the funeral home.

Shirley was born December 23, 1936, in Leitchfield, Kentucky the daughter of Henry Thomas and Lela Mae Shartzer Langley.  She married Thomas N. Coates December 29, 1956, in Leitchfield, Kentucky.  He preceded her in death March 19, 2014.

She is survived by a son Mike (Tanya) Coates of Ludlow; daughter Lorie (Pat Richardson) Coates of Paxton; three grandchildren Kim (Louis) Wade of Paxton, Cody (Paige) Coates of Ludlow; Patricia Richardson of Paxton; eight great grandchildren; a sister Lorene Bratton of Leitchfield, KY; brother Truman (Judy) Langley of Gibson City; a sister-in-law Carol Langley of Paxton and numerous nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband and three brothers Gene Langley, Glenn Langley and David Langley.

She graduated from Caneyville High School, Caneyville, KY.  She retired from Caradco after 25 years and then worked in the Dietary Department at Ford County Nursing Home for a number of years.

Shirley enjoyed cooking and working in her yard and garden.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids.
