Stella “Genet” Dixon of Rantoul, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away at 1:23 a.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at Addington Place of Rantoul at the age of 100.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 30, 2026, at Eden Park Cemetery, Rantoul with Rev. Aaron Dawson officiating. Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is handling arrangements.

Genet was born April 28, 1926, in Springfield, Missouri, the daughter of Ray and M. Marie East Powers. She married Ralph J. Dixon June 18, 1950 in the chapel on Drury College Campus. He preceded her in death November 12, 2007.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Kim (Rob) Wyre of Rantoul; granddaughter, Jessica (Clint) Hawn; grandson, Steven (Jessi) Wyre; two great granddaughters, Reese and Alexis Hawn and great grandson, AJ Wyre.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; two sisters, Elda Padgett, Nadene Franke; brother, Jimmie Powers and her faithful Maltese dog and constant companion, Jetta Rae.

Genet graduated from Springfield High School and attended Drury College. She was employed by Rantoul City Schools as secretary until her retirement.

She was a long-time member of the Rantoul American Lutheran Church and the Champaign County Home Extension. Genet was a loyal fan of the Fighting Illini and the St. Louis Cardinals. Her life was defined by deep devotion to her family and she found immense joy in becoming a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Family meant everything to her.
