Steven M. Barney, 61, of Buckley formerly of Gilman died at 9:44 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 2018, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.

He was born on August 2, 1956 in San Jose, California the son of John and Lola Miller Barney.

Steve is survived by a son, Mark Barney of Gilman; a daughter, Shelly Barney of Bourbonnais; eight grandchildren; one brother, Troy (Karen) Barney of Gilman; one sister, Dawn (Lee) Regnier of Buckley; three nephews, Tyler (Angie) Ecker, Clayton Barney, David (Tina) Barney and two nieces, Holly Jones and Aldea Bishop.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Glen Barney.

Steve spent his childhood in San Jose, California and moved to Gilman in 1968. He graduated from Gilman High School in 1974. He was a police officer for Monroe County, Islamorada, Florida and ended his career as a bailiff. He lived in Florida for 35 years and moved to Buckley in 2015.

He was a member of the Policy Motorcycle Group and the Iron Pigs Motorcycle Club, Windy City. Steve enjoyed motorcycles, was a skilled marksman and was a people pleaser.

Memorials may be made to an organization of the donor's choice. Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is assisting the family with arrangements.
