Steven Howard Symmonds, 68, of Paxton passed away at 3:41 p.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at Carle Foundation Hospital Urbana.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is assisting the family with arrangements.

Steve was born November 9, 1956 in Aurora the son of Howard and Lonette Griffin Symmonds. He married Laura A. Maguire July 27, 2002 in Westbrook, Maine. She preceded him in death September 22, 2013. He married Merry Craw August 22, 2015 at Grace Lutheran Church, Rankin. She survives.

Along with his wife, Merry, he is survived by two sons, Jacob (Kimberly) Symmonds of Aurora, Micah (Rebecca) Symmonds of Anchorage, Alaska; daughter, Katie (Kyle) Phillips of Yorkville, Illinois; 8 grandchildren, Addison and Emily, Aubriella, Evalynn and Bennett, Aliyah, Emberleigh and Isley; sister, Jo Lynn Symmonds of South Carolina; and the mother of his children, Cheryl Brownell.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece, Sara Garrity.

Steve spent his childhood in Oswego, Illinois and graduated from Oswego High School.
He worked in plastics manufacturing for many years and the Cunningham Children's Home, Champaign. Steve was the owner of Market Street Vaping & Wellness in Paxton.

He was a friend of Bill W. Steve was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs, Green Bay Packers, Chicago Blackhawks and the Chicago Bulls.
