Obituary

Tonita (Toni) Ann Santrock, 71 of Urbana, passed away peacefully at Carle Hospital on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 4:44 a.m. Toni was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose happy spirit and warm personality touched the lives of everyone who knew her.

Toni was friendly, kind, and always ready for a conversation. She loved to talk and had a way of making people feel welcome and comfortable in her presence. She treasured spending time with her family and friends and created many wonderful memories through the simple joy of being together. She also loved spending time with her dog, Sugar.

Above all, Toni loved her grandchildren with all her heart. She was incredibly proud of them. She loved watching them participate in their activities and was always there to cheer them on and celebrate their accomplishments. Her grandchildren brought her tremendous joy, and they will forever carry her love with them.

Toni also enjoyed trivia games, puzzles, and a competitive family game of euchre. These activities were about more than the games themselves—they were opportunities to laugh, talk, spend time together, and make memories with the people she loved.

Toni is survived by her beloved husband, Harold Santrock. She is also survived by her children, Bradley Helms (Kimberly Helms) and Brianne Nierenhausen (Brian Nierenhausen); Dana (Nick) Martin and Kyle (Maddie) Henegar to whom she had a motherly relationship with, her grandchildren, Nolan Nierenhausen, Hannah Nierenhausen, Ryan Long, and Ray Long; her sisters; Renae Hinrichs, Wendy Watkins and Lynette Young (Shawn Young) and many other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Klass & Emma Hinrichs, her parents Robert & Berniece Hinrichs, her mother-in-law Dorothy Santrock, and her brothers-in-law Sonny Watkins and Ronnie Santrock.

Toni was born February 23, 1955 in Urbana. She graduated from Paxton High School in 1973.

She will be remembered for her happiness, her love of conversation, her devotion to her family, and especially the immense love and pride she had for her grandchildren. Toni's memory will live on in the stories shared, the games played, the laughter enjoyed, and the countless lives she touched simply by being herself.

A visitation is planned for Monday, September 21 from 4-8pm at Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 22, also at Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton with Rev. Aaron Dawson officiating. Burial will follow at Kopmann Cemetery, Royal.

Memorials may be made to an organization of the donor’s choice.

She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
