John Truman Swan, 87, of Paxton passed away at 3:44 p.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at Gibson Area Hospital, Gibson City.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 27, 2018, at Glen Cemetery, Paxton with Rev. Debra Domeier officiating and military honors by Paxton American Legion Prairie Post 150.

Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, August 26, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E Pells Street, Paxton.

Truman was born August 5, 1931 in Paxton the son of John P. and Hilda Balke Swan. He married Donna J. Oldridge March 25, 1956; she preceded him in death February 4, 1968. He married Betty L. Swank June 11, 1977; she preceded him in death December 14, 2007.

He is survived by a son, Randy (Barbara) Swan of Paxton; a daughter, Rebecca (Todd) Farney of Paxton; three step children, Becky (Danny) Miller, Jeff (Esther) Swank, Rodney (Sue) Swank; 13 grandchildren including Brandon (Hope) Farney of Paxton, Tyson (Brooke) Farney of St. Joseph, Jessica (Jason) Mills of Paxton; 11 great grandchildren and a sister, Amelia Behrens of Paxton.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and a step-son, Jamie Swank.

Truman graduated from Paxton High School. He served in the United States Army 1951-1953. He was a lineman for CIPS and retired in 1992. Truman was a gun enthusiast and sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
