Velma Hileman Lee, 92, of Bayles Lake passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Accolade Healthcare of Paxton on Pells.

A private graveside service will be held at Glen Cemetery, Paxton. Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Lee was born October 19, 1930 in Loda, a daughter of LaRoy M. and Nellie Meek Metheny. She married Wayne E. Hileman on October 27, 1951 in Pontoppidan Lutheran Church in rural Paxton. He passed away on June 10, 1986. She married Kenneth V. Lee on July 27, 1991 in Mahomet. He passed away March 19, 2002.

Surviving are two children, Daniel W. (Barb) Hileman of West Lafayette, IN, and Vickie L. (Danny) Swan of Paxton; three grandchildren, Katie (Robbie) Lockhart of West Lafayette, IN, Mike (Korey) Swan of Rantoul, and Joe Swan of Champaign; and three great-grandchildren, Emma Keenan, Lincoln Lockhart and Audrey Lockhart.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, H.G. and Leland Metheny and five sisters, Anne Porter, Frances Wilson, Kathryn George, Edna Clay and Helen Kuhlman.

Mrs. Lee attended Loda Grade School and graduated from Gresham Union High School, Gresham, OR. She was employed at Paxton Unit Schools and the Ford County Treasurers Office before retiring in 1990.

She was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church, Paxton; Bayles Lake Auxiliary, Loda; and Anna Maria Island, Florida Women of the Moose, Chapter 1601. She was a past member of the Ford County Home Extension, Paxton V.F.W. Auxiliary, Paxton Junior Woman's Club, and Paxton Business and Professional Women.

Over the years she enjoyed many hobbies including crocheting, antiquing and working in her yard. Velma developed many close friendships throughout the years including those on Anna Maria Island, Florida, where she spent her winters for over 30 years.
