Obituary

Wanda Mae Ecker, 92, of Buckley passed away at 9:55 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2018 at her home.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2018 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 206 E Main St, Buckley with Rev. Timothy Hahn officiating. Burial will follow in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Buckley.

Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service at the church. Baier Family Funeral Services, Buckley is assisting the family with arrangements.

Wanda was born June 3, 1926 in Gross, Kansas the daughter of David Taylor and Florence Belle Patterson Bean. She married Carl F. Ecker, Sr. January 19, 1944 in Chicago. He preceded her in death June 20, 1993.

She is survived by seven children, Carla Ecker of Cook, Minnesota, Donna (Ronald) Luhrsen of Kankakee, Carl F (Valerie) Ecker, Jr. of Momence, James (Sandra) Ecker of Paxton, John (Susan Waggoner) Ecker of Christman, Laura (Wilmer) Tholen of Buckley, and William Ecker of Ft. Scott, Kansas; 40 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; one brother; and one sister.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one great granddaughter Hannah Ecker, one brother and six sisters.

Wanda spent her childhood in Gross, Kansas and graduated from Gross High School. She moved to Buckley in 1944 after marrying her husband, Carl. Wanda worked for 24 years at the Hi Grade Egg Farm, rural Loda.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Buckley and the St. John's Ladies Aid. Wanda was a former member of the St. John's PTO and Paxton Community Hospital Auxiliary. She was a lifetime member of Byron A. Hickerson Post 432 Auxiliary, Buckley.

Wanda enjoyed expressing her love by sending cards to her many family members and friends.

The family would like to extend theirs thanks to Transitions Hospice, especially Kristy, Tom, Megan, Kevin, and Kathy.
