William M. "Bill" Archer, Jr., 82, of Bayles Lake, Loda passed away at 2:35 a.m. Thursday, September 5, 2024 at The Citadel of Bourbonnais following a long battle with kidney disease.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 407 W Pells St, Paxton with Father Nestor Sanchez officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cemetery, Paxton.

Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is assisting the family with arrangements.

Bill was born December 14, 1941 in Paxton the son of William M. and Iona Raboin Archer. He married Jan Hartz on November 12, 1983 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Paxton. She survives.

Along with his wife, Jan, he is survived by three sisters, Teresa (Pat) Smith of Indiana, Lila (Larry) Beland of Missouri, Patricia Archer of Texas; five nephews; and two nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Archer; and brother, M.D. "Doc" Archer.

Bill graduated from Paxton High School. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Paxton and a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Assembly 3197 in Paxton.

Bill was a past member of the Loda Lion's Club and had served on Bayles Lake committees, including the Lakes and Parks committee for many years. He and Jan managed Lakeview Storage in Loda for over 20 years. In 2024, he was recognized by the Laborers Local 703 Union for being a member for 60 years, retiring from Cross Construction.

Bill loved the outdoors, especially spending time in "his woods".
