William Donald "Don" Brinegar, 92 of Paxton, died at 4:56 p.m. Monday, July 24, 2023, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, July 28, 2023, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E. Pells Street, Paxton with Rev. Pat Allin officiating.  Burial will follow in Glen Cemetery, Paxton with military honors accorded by the Paxton American Legion Prairie Post 150.

Visitation will be two hours before the service on Friday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Don was born July 14, 1931, in Paxton the son of William Jacob and Sophia Mae Sexton Brinegar.  He married Rheta Pilcher April 14 1956, at the Loda United Methodist Church.  She survives.

Along with his wife of 67 years, Rheta, he is survived by three daughters, Linda (Mike) Herriott of Paxton, Rhonda (Rick) Wolfe of Paxton, Sheila (Tom) Eisaman of Centennial, Colorado; 8 grandchildren, Jennifer Flanigan, Lindsay Garcia, Becky Britten, Eric Wolfe, Ashley Wallin, William Eisaman, Anne Eisaman, Joshua Eisaman; 11 great grandchildren and one sister, Marjorie Workman of Bloomington.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Justine Mineer and Barbara Ogle and one brother Gene Pearson.

Don graduated from Paxton High School.  He proudly served in the National Guard and the United States Army and was in the Korean War. He was a lineman for Eastern Illini Electric Cooperative until his retirement in 1995.  After retirement, he was a driver for Popel's Ag Service.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Paxton and had served on the church council.  He was a former member of the Paxton Lions Club and the Paxton School Board.  Don was also a member of the Paxton American Legion Prairie Post 150.

Don enjoyed fishing, hunting and sitting on his front porch.  He loved keeping busy and doing home projects.  His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
